Today, law is regarded as one of the most promising and lucrative professions in our country. Students interested in studying law and seeking admission to a National Law University must take the Common Law Admission Test. CLAT examination is one of the most difficult entrance exams for admission to India’s top law schools. It is a national-level entrance exam held by the Consortium of NLUs for admission to 22 participating NLUs’ undergraduate and postgraduate law programs. UG courses are currently offered by all 22 NLUs, whereas PG courses are currently offered by 19 NLUs. The UG paper consists of 150 multiple-choice questions from five subjects: current events, English, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques.
NLU Delhi is the only NLU that does not recognise CLAT scores; instead, it holds its own entrance test, the AILET.
Apart from the NLUs, which are often candidates’ first option, CLAT exam scores are accepted by 61 additional private affiliate colleges.
CLAT-PG results are also used for recruitment by some public organisations, such as ONGC and BHEL.

Every year, between 55000 and 60000 students apply for the Clat examination. This figure represents the total number of applicants for both undergraduate and graduate programs. So, roughly 50,000 people take the exam each year, and you may expect the same trend this year.
Eligibility
CLAT UG and CLAT PG eligibility requirements have been established by the Consortium of NLUs. CLAT 2022 qualifying standards include academic and age requirements, which are detailed below.
UG CLAT Criteria for Eligibility in 2022
Educational requirements: The candidate must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised university or board. Candidates who pass the qualifying exam are eligible to take the Common Law Admission Test. However, such candidates will only be considered for admission if they meet all of the other eligibility conditions.
Exam to qualify: Candidates in the general category must score at least 45 percent in the qualifying exam, while SC and ST candidates must get at least 40 percent.
There is no upper age limit for taking the CLAT 2022 exam.
2022 CLAT PG Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications – The candidate must have completed an LLB degree (3-year LLB or 5-year integrated LLB) from an Indian university recognised by the Bar Council of India. Candidates in their final year/semester of their undergraduate studies in 2022 are also eligible to take the exam.
Qualifying exam: The qualifying exam must be passed with a score of at least 50%. SC and ST candidates must have a graduation grade point average of at least 45 percent (qualifying exam).
There is no upper age limit for taking the CLAT LLM exam.
